Akhil Scaria's all-round brilliance against Trivandrum Royals gave Calicut Globstars their first win of Kerala Cricket League (KCL) season 2.

Scaria smashed an unbeaten 68 off 32 and bagged 3/32 as the Globstars posted a 7-wicket win at the Greenfield Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday.

Scaria and Salman Nizar (51 off 34) stitched an unbeaten 106-run partnership as the Globstars chased down a target of 174 runs with an over to spare.

Earlier, the Royals captain Krishna Prasad scored a half-century (78 off 54) to power the Royals to 173/7. Abdul Basith and Subin S made 24 and 23 respectively.

Globstars, who finished runners-up last season, had lost to defending champions Kollam Sailors and Thrissur Titans earlier.
