As India prepare for upcoming matches against Australia, Shreyas Iyer has been unveiled as captain of the A team which will play the Baggy Greens in two unofficial four-day Tests in Lucknow.

The first game will be played from September 16-19 and the second from September 23-26 at Ekana stadium.

The news arrives after Iyer's recent exclusion from the Indian side for the Asia Cup. The prolific batter shines as an integral part of the West Zone squad who is competing in the Duleep Trophy semifinal against Central Zone in Bengaluru.

India wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel has been named Iyer’s deputy.
