Even as the dust from the recent India-Pakistan encounters in the Asia Cup remains unsettled, the arch-rivals are set to clash in the Women's World Cup on Sunday.
Devajit Saikia, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) refused to confirm if the women's match will witness the same level of hostility as seen in the men's event in Dubai.
"I cannot forecast anything, but our relationship with that particular hostile country is the same; there is no change in the last week," Saikia told the BBC.
"India will play that match against Pakistan in Colombo, and all cricket protocols will be followed. I can only assure that whatever is in the MCC regulations of cricket, that will be done.
"Whether there will be handshakes, whether there will be hugging, I cannot assure you of anything at this moment," Saikia said.
India and Pakistan played three times in the Asia Cup, including in the final. On all three occasions, Indian players refused to shake shands with their Pakistani counterparts. The Indian team also boycotted the medal distribution ceremony so as not to collect the trophy from Asian Cricket Council president Mohsin Naqvi, who is a union minister in Pakistan.
The India-Pakistan showdown in the Women's World Cup is scheduled to begin at 3 pm. All matches involving the Pakistan national team will be played in Colombo, while India are the primary host of the show-piece event.
