Sanju Samson returns to lead Kerala in Mushtaq Ali T20; Imran surprise choice for VC

Sanju Samson was named captain of the Kerala team for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament starting November 26 in Lucknow.
Interestingly, 19-year-old Ahammed Imran has been chosen as the vice-captain even as Kerala's Ranji Trophy skipper Mohammed Azharuddeen is part of the 18-member squad announced on Saturday by the Kerala Cricket Association.
Former captain Sachin Baby, who returned to form with a century in the recent Ranji Trophy match in Madhya Pradesh, has been left out. Salman Nizar, who was out injured, has returned to the squad.
IPL sensation Vignesh Puthur has earned his maiden senior call-up, while Sanju's elder brother, Saly, who guided Kochi Blue Tigers to the title of the Kerala Cricket League, is in the squad.
The team coached by Amay Khurasiya was camping in Indore after the recent Ranji match, and will leave for Lucknow from there. Kerala is in Elite Group A and the group stages will take place till December 8. Kerala will play against Odisha (Nov 26), Railways (Nov 28), Chhattisgarh (Nov 30), Vidarbha (Dec 2), Mumbai (Dec 4), Andhra (Dec 6) and Assam (Dec 8).
