Malayali batter Devdutt Padikkal hit an unbeaten century (102 off 46) to give Karnataka a 145-run win over Tamil Nadu in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.

The left-hander hit 10 boundaries and six sixes at a strike rate of 221. B R Sharath (53) and R Smaran (46 not out) made valuable contributions as Karnataka posted a massive 245/3.

In response, Tamil Nadu could only make 100, with six of their batters dismissed for single digits. Captain Varun Chakravarthy fell for a golden duck. Praveen Dubey and Shreyas Gopal claimed three wickets each, while Vijaykumar Vyshak and Shubhang Hegde bagged two each.

The 25-year-old Padikkal was born in Kerala, but the family shifted to Hyderabad and later to Bengaluru. His father is from Nilambur, and his mother from Edappal.
