Vaibhav Suryavanshi did not just have a breakout year in cricket, he smashed a few internet records on the way as the 14-year-old was the most searched Indian on Google in 2025.

The batting sensation from Bihar was the sixth-most searched person globally, only behind Pope Leo XIV, who became the head of the Catholic Church in May.

Suryavanshi was Googled more than designer Bianca Censori, who became famous for her near-nude public appearances, and Zohran Mamdani, the recently elected Mayor of New York City.

In India, Google says, Suryavanshi garnered more search interest than fellow cricketers Priyansh Arya and Abhishek Sharma. World Cup winner Jemimah Rodrigues featured fifth in the list of most Googled persons in India in 2025.

Suryavanshi famously made his IPL debut for Rajasthan Royals this year, becoming the youngest to play in the popular T20 league. In April, he became the youngest IPL centurion, smashing a 38-ball century against the Gujarat Titans, which was also the second-fastest in IPL history.

Among sports events, the Indian Premier League (IPL) clearly dominated Google searches, while the Asia Cup came up second, ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy, which was co-hosted by Pakistan and the UAE.

Surprisingly, the Asia Cup was the second-most Googled sporting event globally, only behind the FIFA Club World Cup.
