The BCCI on Tuesday named its 15-member squad for India's home series against Sri Lanka in women's T20Is, starting December 21.
Captain Harmanpreet Kaur and vice-captain Smriti Mandhana headline a strong squad. Deepti Sharma, Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma are part of the team that will play five T20Is.
The first two matches of the series will be played at Visakhapatnam on December 21 and 23. The last three are scheduled to be held in Thiruvananthapuram on December 26, 28 and 30.
Kerala's capital city is hosting international cricket after two years. The Greenfield Stadium at Karyavattom last hosted a men's T20I between India and Australia on November 26, 2023, which the hosts won by 44 runs.
Unfortunately, no Kerala players are part of the squad, though Sajana Sajeevan had been part of the team in the home series against West Indies last December. Asha Sobhana and Minnu Mani also represented India in T20Is in recent times.
Mandhana recently called off her wedding with musician Palash Muchhal, two weeks after the function was postponed when her father fell ill. Left-hand opener Mandhana is the World No 3-ranked T20I batter.
