Sreesanth skips handshake with Sanju at KCL final; fans curious about what happened

Social media is buzzing over an incident at the Kerala Cricket League final in which former India pacer S Sreesanth did not shake hands with Sanju Samson during the presentation ceremony.

Sanju and Sreesanth were together on the special presentation stage at Greenfield Stadium in Karyavattom after the KCL final, where awards were distributed to the winners. A video from the ceremony shows Sreesanth shaking hands with others on the stage but appearing to skip Sanju, who was standing nearby.

Sreesanth, co-owner and mentor of Aries Kollam Sailors in the Kerala Cricket League, had come on stage to receive the Fair Play award won by his team. The former India player can be seen walking past Sanju without shaking hands with him. Sanju, who was standing with his hands behind his back, also did not look at Sreesanth.

The incident has triggered discussions on social media, with fans questioning whether there is a reason for the apparent distance between the two Kerala cricketers.

Sreesanth has on several occasions said that he was the one who took Sanju to Rajasthan Royals trial and introduced him to Rahul Dravid. He has also strongly backed Sanju whenever the Kerala batter was left out of the Indian team.

Sreesanth’s relationship with the Kerala Cricket Association had also turned sour after he raised allegations that the association was sidelining Sanju. The KCA had suspended Sreesanth over the issue. After his suspension was lifted, Sreesanth became active again with the Kollam Sailors franchise.

Neither Sreesanth nor Sanju has so far commented on the incident.

Sanju is next expected to feature for India in the T20I series against Afghanistan. With Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Abhishek Sharma also in the squad, fans are keen to see who will open the innings alongside him. Sanju has also been included in India’s squad for the Asian Games.
