Muthoot Fincorp to become Indian cricket team title sponsor

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly secured Muthoot Fincorp as the title sponsor for the national team's next two home seasons. According to a report by Cricbuzz, the deal is locked at a base price of ₹4.85 crore per match. This partnership, which will run until March 2028, is estimated to bring in a total of ₹150 crore to the BCCI across 35 home matches. The official announcement of the sponsorship, which will be branded under the name 'Blue Muthoot', is expected shortly.
Lack of bidders prompts direct negotiations
The announcement of the new sponsor comes after a slight delay caused by a lack of initial bidders during the tendering process. Industry experts suggest that the high base price set by the cricket board deterred several potential sponsors. Previously, IDFC First Bank held the title sponsorship, paying ₹4.2 crore per match in a deal signed in 2023 that totalled ₹235 crore for 56 matches. When that contract expired in August, the BCCI's subsequent call for tenders received no response, prompting direct negotiations with prominent brands, including Google Gemini, IDFC First Bank, Spinny, and SBI Life, before finally shaking hands with Muthoot Fincorp.
India vs West Indies series schedule
The new sponsorship era will kick off with the upcoming home bilateral series against the West Indies. The series begins with the first ODI at the Greenfield Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on September 27. The second and third ODIs are scheduled for September 30 and October 3 respectively. Following the 50-over matches, a T20 series will take place from October 6 to October 17.
