The impasse over the start of the Indian Super League (ISL) season could be drawing to a close as the All India Football Federation and its commercial partner Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) have seemingly come to a 'consensual resolution'.

The stakeholders submitted the resolution before the Supreme Court on Thursday, claiming it was in the larger public interest and for the promotion of the game in India. They are hopeful of starting the ISL by December.

The ISL, the country's top men's division, was scheduled to start in September. However, it was put on hold as the AIFF and FSDL failed to renew their Master Rights Agreement.

"The AIFF has agreed that: It will conduct an open, competitive and transparent tender (or equivalent process) for selection of a commercial partner to conduct the ISL in line with global best practices," the resolution submitted before the apex court stated.

"Such process will be conducted in conformity with the National Sports Development Code 2011, the National Sports Governance Act 2025, the AIFF Constitution, and applicable FIFA/Asian Football Confederation (AFC) regulations.

"The process may be managed by an independent professional firm of repute, such as one of the 'Big Four' or an entity of equivalent standing."

The stakeholders expect to complete their process by October 15, and reassure the clubs, broadcasters and sponsors, who have been left disappointed due to the suspension of the ISL.
