Captain Mailson Alves scored for the second week as Thrissur Magic posted back-to-back 1-0 wins to go top of the points table in Super League Kerala.

Brazilian defender Alves scored in the 12th minute against Thiruvananthapuram Kombans at the Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday.

Just like against Calicut last week, the winner came from a set piece, with Alves finishing with his left foot after a pair of headed passes.

Alves' defensive contributions were also noteworthy, especially in the 50th minute and in injury time when he cleared the danger from corners. Magic goalkeeper Kamaludheen kept out a Ronald Costa effort from range in the first half and denied the Brazilian again early in the second half.

Andrey Chernyshov's Magic have six points from three matches. Kannur Warriors and Malappuram FC have four points each and with a game each in their hands. Malappuram play Calicut in Manjeri on Sunday.
Result: Thiruvananthapuram Kombans FC 0 lost to Thrissur Magic FC 1 (Mailson Alves 12)
