Malappuram FC scored twice after 85 minutes to hold defending champions Calicut FC 3-3 in a Super League Kerala match at the Payyanad Stadium in Manjeri on Sunday.

On 88 minutes, Nithin Madhu scored and a minute later, substitute John Kennedy converted from a spot kick. Hajmal saved the initial attempt from Kennedy, but the Brazilian scored the rebound to end the thrilling contest a draw.

Santosh Trophy star Muhammed Ajsal had scored a brace (7 & 72) to put Calicut 3-1 up with a quarter of the game left. Captain K Prasanth's 50th minute headed goal had put the visitors in front after Aitor Aldalur’s added time goal made it 1-1.

Ajsal's second goal was beautiful as he outfoxed three defenders before beating goalkeeper Mohammed Azhar with a left-foot strike. 

Result: Malappuram FC 3 (Aitor 45+3, Nithin 88, John Kennedy 89) drew with Calicut FC 3 (Muhammed Ajsal 7, 72, K Prasanth 50)
