UAE's Malayali lad Nathan Kappen defended his title in the Junior Max category of the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) Karting Nations Cup in Doha.

Nathan clocked 20:56.169 to pip Algeria's Roslan Sryer, who finished 2.4 seconds behind. Sryer had pole position going into the 26-lap race covering 26.6 km. Saudi Arabia's Abdulrazzaq Al Quraishi finished third, clocking 21:05.947.

Nathan won the event last season as well and will next race the Rotax Grand Finals in Bahrain between November 29 and December 7. The 13-year-old is the son of Thodupuzha native Thommen and Kanjirappally native Thanu, who are settled in Dubai.

The MENA event, hosted by the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation, featured 170 drivers from at least 18 countries.
