Keralite Hersen wins SAI's Best Coach honour

New Delhi: Keralite Hersen K S was one of the 14 coaches to receive the Sports Authority of India (SAI)'s Best Coaches honour at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here on Wednesday.

Sports Minister Anurag Thakur gave away the awards to the winners.

Ernakulam native Hersen trains at the Gopichand Badminton Academy in Hyderabad.

Top women's doubles pair Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly as well as Vishnu Vardhan Goud, Krishna Prasad, Mayank Rana and Ishaan Bhatnagar are some of his trainees.

Sunil Tanwar (para-athletics), Rajinder Singh Rahelu (para-powerlifting), Gurmeet (athletics), Piyush Kumar Dubey (hockey), Bhaskar Chandra Bhatt (boxing), Ram Awdhesh (archery), Deepak (shooting), Vikram Singh Chopra (shooting), Vishaldeep (gymnastics), Tukaram Mhatre (fencing), Amit Vijj (judo), Ratnesh Singh Thakur (wushu) and Nagesh (wushu) were the other coaches to win the honour.
