Indian challenge ends in Singapore Open

Singapore: Indian challenge ended in the Singapore Open Super 750 tournament here on Thursday as Kidambi Srikanth and Priyanshu Rajawat lost in the men's singles pre-quarterfinals, while the doubles pair of M R Arjun and Dhruv Kapila too bowed out.

Rajawat lost to third seed Kodai Naraoka 17-21, 16-21, while Srikanth went down to Chinese Taipei's Chia Hao Lee 15-21, 19-21.

Arjun and Kapila lost to England's Ben Lane and Sean Vendy 15-21, 19-21 in a 41-minute affair.

World No. 11 doubles duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty and Commonwealth Games bronze medallists Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand lost their respective opening round matches on Wednesday.
