Rio Olympics medallist Sakshi Malik on Saturday said that the grapplers will not participate in Asian Games unless the issues relating to the wrestlers' protest are resolved.

"We will participate in Asian Games only when all these issues will be resolved. You can't understand what we're going through mentally each day," Sakshi said in Sonipat in Haryana.

The grapplers have been demanding the arrest of outgoing Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

Sakshi's comments have come at a time when trials for the Games are scheduled to take place this month. All the wrestlers, including those involved in the protest, need to compete at trials and earn their place in the Indian squad for the Asian Games, which will be held in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8.

Earlier on Wednesday, Sakshi along with Bajrang Punia and others had met Union Sports Minister Anuarag Thakur at his home and said that the government has asked for time till June 15 for the police investigation to complete.

The wrestlers had on Thursday expressed intent to take part in the Asian Games selection trials scheduled to be held later this month.

Sports Minister had said that all national federations are aiming to finalise the squads for the Games well before the July 15 deadline set by the Olympic Council of Asia.
