Sweden's Mondo Duplantis broke his pole vault world record for a staggering 11th time by soaring over 6.27 metres at the All-Star Perche meet in Clermont-Ferrand in France.

Since 2020, Duplantis has bettered his world record by a centimetre on each occasion, including four times in the last 11 months. Duplantis first broke the world record of 6.16 m set by Renaud Lavillenie of France in 2014. Since then, he has been on his own.

At Clermont-Ferrand, Duplantis took just one attempt to break his previous global mark of 6.26 set in Silesia in August. The 25-year-old has two Olympic gold medals, besides two World Championship titles.

"I just felt really good. What can I say, I came here to do it. I put everything in place to do it. The run-up worked really well. I just did it," Duplantis told reporters.
