Lakshya Sen ended rising star Ayush Shetty's dream run in the Hong Kong Open Super 500 badminton tournament in the quarterfinals on Friday.

Sen defeated his 20-year-old compatriot 21-16, 17-21, 21-13 to storm into the semifinals. Shetty had upset former World No 2 Kodai Naraoka to reach the quarterfinals.

Sen, 24, will play either Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei and Alwi Farhan of Indonesia.

Meanwhile, the Indian doubles ace of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty also reached the last-four by defeating Malaysia's Arif Junaidi and Roy King Yap 21-14, 20-22, 21-16.

The eighth-seeded Indian pair was slow to start with and had been tied at 12 before clinching five points in a row to win the game. The second game was tight and the Indian duo tied at 20, but lost 20-22. In the decider, Satwik and Chirag never let the opponents take the lead and secured victory.
