Thanks to their dominance across various games, hosts Thiruvananthapuram emerged overall champions of the Kerala State School Sports & Games, also known as the Kerala School Olympics, to secure the Chief Minister's Gold Cup on Tuesday.

With a massive haul of 517 medals, comprising 202 gold, 145 silver and 170 bronze, Thiruvananthapuram were ruthless in their race to the top. Thrissur finished a distant second with 252 medals, including 90 gold. Kannur came third with 81 gold, 76 silver and 85 bronze.

Athletics, the flagship event of the Kerala School Olympics, saw Malappuram emerge on top with 65 medals, including 17 gold, 25 silver and 23 bronze. Palakkad (42 medals) were pushed to the second spot, despite securing more gold medals (21).

Kozhikode (9G, 9S, 6B) and Thiruvananthapuram (7G, 5S, 4B) finished third and fourth respectively.

Malappuram School, Ideal EHSS, Kadakassery claimed the top spot in athletics with 24 medals, including 7 gold. Another Malappuram school, Navamukunda HSS, Thirunavaya claimed the second place with 17 medals, of which five were gold.

Navamukunda HSS, Thirunavaya athletes Adithya Aji and Fasalul Haque were adjudged the individual champions in the senior girls and boys categories respectively. Jefrin Manoj Anthraper of Ideal EHSS, Kadakassery, shared the award with Fasalul. The two boys had a pair of second-placed finishes and one gold, while Adithya claimed triple gold.
