Kerala government announced a ₹4,500 bonus or festival allowance for employees and pensioners, plus a ₹20,000 Onam advance for government staff ahead of the festival.
The decision involves a total outlay of ₹1,865.68 crore, benefitting 10,91,146 non-gazetted staff.
This is the highest bonus ever distributed by the corporation.
BEVCO’s employee-friendly move comes as the government earned Rs 5,000 crore in tax revenue from liquor sales.
Earlier today, the government issued an order to disburse two months of welfare pension to over 60 lakh beneficiaries.
Those who are not eligible for the bonus will get a festival allowance of Rs 2750.
The additional expenses will mainly be the bonus, festival allowance, and advance salary to the government employees.
Sivankutty also said the State Government would settle the existing industrial disputes in the State in a time bound manner.
Besides, the employees can avail themselves of Onam advance of Rs 15,000 which should be repaid in five equal installments.
Finance Minister K N Balagopal cited the severe financial crisis faced by the state for the situation.
