The decision to close outlets in protest came after a government order increased the commission of Bevco outlets to 25% of the liquor sales from the current 8%.
Items worth Rs 5,02,500 were purchased from the Little Triveni Super Store at Maranchery in Jaleel's Thavanur constituency and the bill was issued in the name of the UAE Consulate in Thiruvananthapuram.
When the booking is made, a token number will be received with details of the time and liquor outlet. Consumer can select the brand at the outlet and make the payment.
Liquor will be sold as takeaways at the BEVCO and Consumerfed outlets, bars, and beer and wine parlours through a virtual queue system.
At present, retail liquor sale is permitted only through the 265 Beverages Corporation (Bevco) outlets and 35 Consumerfed shops.
The government has directed the excise department to figure out necessary amendments.
