Chanda Kochhar, the former CEO of ICICI Bank, has been found guilty of accepting a ₹64 crore bribe related to a ₹300 crore loan sanctioned to Videocon Group.
The CBI arrested Kochhars on December 23, 2022 in connection with the Videocon-ICICI Bank loan case.
A division bench of Justices Revati Mohite Dere and P K Chavan held that the arrest of Kochhars was in violation of Section 41A of the Code of Criminal Procedure which mandates sending notice for appearance before the police officer concerned.
Former ICICI Bank CEO and MD Chanda Kochhar, her husband Deepak Kochhar, and Videocon group founder Venugopal Dhoot had sought permission to use a chair, special beds, mattresses, pillows, towels, blankets, and bed sheets citing their medical conditions.
Her husband Deepak Kochhar was also taken into custody in the Videocon case.
