Table Mountain
Table Mountain is one of the most visited spots in South Africa. It is a flat-topped mountain range that faces beautiful Cape Town. The summit looks flat like a giant tabletop, attracting tourists from across the globe. It is also known as Tafeberg in the local language. The Table Mountain that lies parallel to Table Bay in Cape Town can be viewed from two hundred kilometres into the sea.

The flat-topped mountain is made of shale and sandstones. Quartz is the main mineral found on the top surface of the mountain. The mountain got its current shape after other elements disintegrated and quartz, which is sturdy and long-lasting, remained. The smoky white clouds that cover this mountain like a 'table cloth' add to the scintillating charm of Table Mountain.

Interestingly, Table Mountain, which is home to more than 1500 varieties of flora and fauna, is a protected area. The Maclear’s Beacon, which is 1086 meters tall, is the highest spot here. Cable services are arranged at the mountain to take the visitors to the summit. It is estimated that more than 24 million visitors reach Cape Town to see Table Mountain. Adventure lovers can try activities like hiking and trekking too.
