Bathery: The highway side near Moolankavu Clooney Public School has been a major photo spot since last two weeks, drawing crowds. The area that was once covered in bushes and weeds is now a breathtaking sunflower garden. Those who travel via Bathery – Mysuru national highway stop their vehicle and get out to enjoy the beautiful sunflower garden.

They would continue their journey only after clicking a few pictures at this spot.

The area was cleared by Moolankavu St. Jude neighbourhood group and Clooney Public School before sowing the sunflower seeds. Sunny Vilakkunnel, president of St. Jude neighbourhood group says that public places could be cleaned and turned into beautiful spots if the local organisations take up the initiative. He added that the group plans to find more such places and transform them by planting trees and flowering plants.

How to plant sunflower?
Sunny spots are ideal to grow the plant, as sunflowers will need about eight hours of direct sunlight every day. The seeds can be planted directly in the soil, at about one inch depth. Water regularly till they sprout and keep the area weeded. Even after seedlings form, ensure regular water supply and occasional fertilisers.
