Vagamon: India’s longest cantilever glass bridge will be thrown open to the public at Kolahalamedu in Vagamon on Friday. The bridge, which has come up at the adventure park of the Idukki District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC), is located at an altitude of 3500 feet above sea level.

With the opening of the glass bridge in Kerala, tourists from the state and nearby areas in India need not travel to places such as Dubai and China to enjoy the unique experience.

From the glass bridge at Kolahalamedu, visitors can relish the sights of even far-off places such as Mundakayam, Kuttikkal and Kokkayar.

The bridge was built jointly by DTPC and Bharat Mata Ventures, a Perumbavoor-based firm, under a public-private partnership (PPP). Constructed at a cost of Rs 3 crore, glass for the 120-foot-long bridge was imported from Germany. Thirty-five tonnes of steel also was utilized.

The entry fee to the bridge is Rs 500.

“We will be arranging more attractions at the adventure park such as sky swing, sky cycling, sky roller and rocket injector soon,” said DTPC secretary Jitheesh Jose.
