Just as the rest of Kerala, Munnar is also gearing up for Onam with flowers across its hills. The blooms began to appear soon after the monsoon season reached its peak. From Grahamsland Estate, the Munnar Engineering College road, and a handful of stretches along the Munnar-Mattupetty road, the blooms can be spotted at multiple locations. Here's how to get there:

How to reach the spots?
The blooming spots at the Grahamsland Estate and Munnar Engineering College Road are just about three kilometres from Munnar Town. The place at Ikka Nagar is just 0.5 km from the town.
1) Grahamsland: From Munnar Town, head 3 kilometres in the Mattupetty, Vattavada direction to reach the Grahamsland Estate. Although it's private property, tourists are welcome to enjoy the flowers here. The flowers are also visible from the road, on either side.

2) To catch the blooms of Ikka Nagar and the Engineering College road, head in the KTDC Guest House direction from Munnar Town. You can see the blooms from just about half a kilometre away.

What's the best time to enjoy neelakurinji?
Unlike many seasonal flowers, neelakurinji flowers look their best throughout the day, according to local people. However, if it rains, they can wilt and droop immediately. Regardless, the blooms have begun appearing in multiple spots, delighting tourists, and the hill station is expected to welcome more flowers in the coming months.
