Alappuzha: The ‘Kuttanad Safari’ package tourism project, envisioned by the State Water Transport Department to promote Kuttanad’s beautiful backwaters, unique culture, and mouthwatering cuisine, will be launched before November. The construction of the amphitheatre as part of the project is scheduled to begin soon at Pathiramanal Island. The theatre will be built using eco-friendly materials, such as grass and bamboo. Regional art forms would be presented at the amphitheatre by associating with IPTA (Indian People's Theatre Association).

The project, which is implemented with the help of the Muhamma panchayat, is sponsored by the Indian Oil Corporation. The water transport department’s brand-new Saura-1 solar-powered boat will be used for the project. The boat that departs at 10 am from the Alappuzha boat jetty covers Punnamada, Azheekkal canal, C Block, and R Block before reaching Pathiramanal. The tourists will have the opportunity to taste local cuisine from the toddy shops, observe craft making using palm fronds, and enjoy art forms such as panchavadyam, velakali, and kuthiyottam. The trip ends by 6 pm at Alappuzha.
