Munnar gets another double-decker bus for tourists: Ticket rates, timings, routes and more

After the success of the first Munnar double-decker tourist bus, the KSRTC on Sunday launched a second one, delighting its fans. The new bus service began on Sunday, increasing the existing three services per day to 6, according to the KSRTC budget tourism cell. From 8 am to 4 pm, there will be six 3-hour trips in the Munnar KSRTC bus stand - Anayirangal Dam route. Here are the details:
Timings, ticket fare
The new timings of the double-decker service are:
8 am to 11 am
9 am to 12 noon
11.30 am to 2.30 pm
12.30 pm to 3.30 pm
3 pm to 6 pm
4 pm to 7 pm
The new bus has 50 seats in total. There are 38 seats on top and 12 at the bottom. The upper berth seats cost Rs 400 and the lower, Rs 200.
Destinations on the list
The Munnar Royal View double-decker buses take the Munnar GAP Road (NH 85, aka the Munnar-Poopara-Bodimettu route), covering spots like Periyakanal waterfalls, Signal Point, Lockhart View, Rock Cave (Malaikallan Cave), Orange Farm View, and tea estates en route. At each spot, riders can get down for 10 minutes to click pictures and receive a briefing on their significance from the bus crew.
Steps to book
1) Log in to the KSRTC SWIFT website.
2) In the search option, give 'Munnar KSRTC Royal View Double Deck', and the 'sightseeing' option will automatically appear in the 'Going To' box.
3) Set the date you need in the 'Journey Date' box.
4) In the list of trips that appear for the dates, click on the 'Select seats' option to pick the seats you need. Then click on 'Provide passenger details' and select a maximum of six seats in one booking.
5) You can pay after filling in the details and proceeding to the payee details.
