Kerala's biggest temple festival, Thrissur Pooram, will be held on Sunday, April 26, this year. The 'Thrissur Pooram Exhibition,' which will run until May at the Sree Vadakkumathan Temple grounds, will be inaugurated by Central Minister Suresh Gopi and Kerala Minister K Rajan on March 22 at 4.30 pm. The Thrissur Pooram's ceremonial flag hoisting will be held on April 20, followed by 'pandimelam' percussion ensemble and fireworks. The 'Aana chamaya pradarshanam' or elephant decor expo will be held on April 24, from 10 am to midnight. There will also be a sample fireworks show at 7 pm.

The two-month-long expo, featuring companies, government departments, fun rides and more, costs ₹50 per ticket. It is held from 10 am to 11 pm every day.
The Pooram Day
On the Pooram Day, April 26, the 'Pooram Purappadu' ceremony (deity leaving the temple) under the Thiruvambadi Devaswom will be at 7 am. The much-awaited 'Madhathil Varavu Panchavadyam' percussion performance will be from 11.30 am to 2.30 pm. This will be followed by the 'Pandimelam' percussion ensemble at 2.45 pm. It will conclude at 4.45 pm at the 'Sreemoolasthanam.' The colourful 'kudamattam' ceremony, featuring artistic umbrellas of many varieties, will be from 6 pm to 7 pm. The night procession will be at 11.30 pm, and it will conclude at 2.30 pm. The 'upacharam cholli piriyal' ceremony, which concludes the pooram, will be at 12.30 pm the next day.
