Who doesn’t love to while away time on beaches as seashores have always caught the imagination of travellers around the globe. Beach-loving tourists don’t have to confine themselves to Goa, which is synonymous to sandy seasides, as there are many tranquil and enthralling beaches in India that will give Goa a run for its money.

One such spot is Karnataka’s Gokarna, which is a popular pilgrimage center and sought-after destination of beach lovers. Gokarna, which is on the shores of the Arabian Sea, is a small town in Karnataka that is known for its beaches and temples.

For travellers who don’t want to tread the beaten path when it comes to beaches, Gokarna is the right place for them.

Gokarna Beach
The long stretch of this beach is situated in a corner of the pilgrimage town of Gokarna. It may be noted that the beaches here are safe, spick and span.

The huge and tall trees that dot Gokarna always keep the oppressive heat at bay. The Gokarna beach is an ideal destination to go on a vacay with your family members.

Om Beach
The Om beach is another wonderful beach that should be on the must-visit list while touring Gokarna. This beach, which takes the form of Hindu spiritual symbol ‘Om’, promises many adventure sports activities that can give you the right dose of adrenaline rush. It is noteworthy that the sight of sun setting at the Om beach can blow you away.

Interestingly, the Om beach is in the shape of two crescent moons joined together to form ‘Om’. The budget-friendly hotel rooms and the restaurants dishing out exotic cuisines make the Om beach popular among travellers. One can also indulge in many gripping water sports activities, including speed boat rides and surfing, at the beach.

Kudle Beach
One can take a leisurely stroll on the awesome Kudle beach after a few minutes’ walk from the Gokarna beach or the Om beach. The beach side eating joints and modest huts are ready to welcome travellers from far and wide. The beach with white sugar sands and surrounded by palmyra trees is a treat for your eyes. If you want some peace and be far away from the din of city life, Kudle beach is just for you.

The beach will be quite deserted throughout the year except during the tourism season period between November and February.

Another striking feature of the Kudle beach is that the sea is calm and safe. This enchanting beach that is camouflaged by a hill has a lot to offer to the tourists.

How to reach
Gokarna is 450km and 231km from Bengaluru and Mangaluru respectively. If you are travelling by road, take NH 17 via Mangaluru to reach this beautiful place. The railways has direct train services from Kerala to Gokarna.
