Dehradun: Jim Corbett Tiger Reserve, which is home to the biggest tiger population in the country, has opened its Bijrani and Garjiya zones for tourists now. They were closed in the monsoon season as the roads there were washed away due to heavy rains.
The Dhikala zone will open on November 15, an official said on Monday. The tiger reserve's Director Dheeraj Pandey said there was a lot of enthusiasm among tourists when these zones opened. Corbett Tiger Reserve, famous for the Royal Bengal Tiger, remains closed to tourists during monsoon and opens in October-November. Pandey said online booking is available for jungle safari and night stays in the reserve.
Spread over an area of 1288.31 square kilometres, it is known for its biodiversity and the density of tigers here is the highest in the world. Among the 51 tiger reserves across the country, the highest number of 260 tigers was found in Corbett Reserve, according to the latest report released in July regarding the number of tigers.
Reserve's new website
While the reserve's old website had issues like the deduction of money without confirmation and improper refund procedures, authorities say the recently launched new website has solved the issue. UPI payment method is also added to the new site, which is a lot faster as well. The new site also offers many exciting offers and options like jeep safari, night stay, canter safari and more.
