The annual Ooty flower fest, scheduled to start around May 2, was on hold due to the Tamil Nadu Assembly Election code of conduct. The officials of the horticulture department were also reportedly busy with various assignments in Chennai. Even after the results were out, when actor-politician Vijay's swearing-in ceremony was delayed, the flower fest was stalled as well. However, now that he has taken charge as the Chief Minister, authorities are finalising arrangements for the much-awaited fest. 

As per reports, Vijay will inaugurate the event, and it is expected to be held around May 20. When contacted, the officials of the Ooty tourism department said that the final date should be confirmed around May 15. Regardless, they have started transferring potted plants and artworks to the galleries for the flower decorations. That said, they are worried that the event may be affected by the summer rains.

Dog Show
Venue: Government Arts College Ground, Ooty
The dog show is a crowd puller, featuring numerous breeds from around the world. It also includes various grooming sessions and other competitions.
Rose Show
Venue: Government Rose Garden, Ooty
A visual treat for visitors, the Rose Show will feature hundreds of blooming rose varieties with a wide, dazzling range of colours. 

Flower Show
Venue: Botanical Garden, Ooty

Plantation Show
Venue: Kattery Park
The show offers visitors a chance to explore the finest plantation crops, particularly coffee and tea, while learning about their varieties, histories, origins, and industrial evolution.

How to apply for mandatory Ooty e-pass?
1. Visit the TN e-pass portal  https://tnepass.tn.gov.in/
2. Choose 'within India' or 'outside India'
3. Select 'Nilgiris' as 'Destination'
Enter the vehicle details, travel dates,  passenger info, and ID proof.  Taking a printout to show at the checkpost can be helpful.
