Travel ban to UAE from India extended

Entry to UAE banned for passengers flying from India

Dubai: The UAE has extended a travel ban from India for 10 more days from Thursday due to the worsening COVID-19 situation in the country, Emirates Airlines informed.

The decision came after the travel ban which started on April 25 was supposed to end on May 4.

After the travel ban was introduced, passengers overflowed to many airports in order to return to India and UAE.

Passengers who have transited through India will also not be permitted to board from any other point to the UAE, the report said.

However, departure flights will continue to operate, it added.

UAE citizens, diplomatic passport holders and official delegations are exempted from the above conditions, it said.

The UAE is one of the first countries to impose a travel ban on passengers from India after it recorded the world's highest daily tally of new COVID-19 infections recently.
