Several trains cancelled till July 1, confusion over remaining services

Thiruvananthapuram: As many as 30 trains, which were suspended due to COVID-induced lockdown, will resume services in Kerala from Wednesday (June 16), Manorama News reported.

According to the report, the Railways has decided to resume the services in the state in a phased manner. As part of the plan, Jan Shatabdi trains and Intercity Express trains will start running from Wednesday.

Cancelled trains

However, the Railways has also cancelled a number of trains in Kerala citing poor demand.

The authorities have not confirmed whether the trains not included in the list of cancelled trains would conduct services from June 16.

According to Santhlal, a representative of the organization 'Friends on Wheels', this has landed numerous passengers in a state of confusion.

"Regular commuters are expecting popular services such as Intercity and Vanchinad Expresses to resume services from June 16. It will be much helpful for passengers such as office-goers if the Railway authorities could confirm whether the trains would run or not. If there are no services, they can search for alternative modes of transport," he said.
