UAE may lift ban on entry of Indians by July end

Ban imposed by UAE on entry of Indians to be lifted by July end

Dubai: The UAE government is expected to lift the ban on entry of Indians by the end of July.

Disclosing this information, the Indian consul general in Dubai Aman Puri said the discussion with UAE authorities on lifting the ban was in progress.

Puri said the restrictions would be lifted in a phased manner. It may be recalled that UAE had imposed a ban on entry of Indians on April 25 following the onset of second wave of COVID -19.

At present the matter is being deliberated with the UAE officials.

The UAE authorities are likely to start the process of removing travel ban by the end of this month. Those with resident visas would get the first priority.

Many people have to rejoin duties after their return to UAE. Aman Puri expressed the optimism that all travel restrictions would be withdrawn by the time Expo begins on October 1.

Hundreds of Indians who came on leave got stranded in the country unable to return to the UAE due to travel ban. While many airline companies are booking tickets, the travel agencies say it would be ideal to wait for the official direction from the UAE government on lifting of travel restrictions.
