Dubai trip: Now, RT-PCR test be held 6 hours prior to departure

Dubai: Passengers travelling to Dubai from India can undergo RT-PCR tests to confirm COVID-19 at the airports six hours prior to the departure. Earlier, the tests had to be conducted four hours before the departure.

The new directive came into effect from Tuesday, the Dubai airport authorities have said. However, there is no change in other directives such as negative results of the RT-PCR test held within 48 hours of the journey and the test results issued within 72 hours for transit passengers.

Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi has announced visa-on-arrival for passengers from 70 countries. The Etihad Airways announced that Indians with US visitor visa or Green card, and UK or European residency visa with six-month validity are also eligible for visa on arrival.

For 14 dirhams (approximately Rs 2,000), the passenger can get a 14-day visa. For 250 dirhams (approximately Rs 5,000), the visa can be extended for another 14 days.
