Railways restart four more unreserved services in south Kerala

At least three more train services are expected to become operational again soon.

Thiruvananthapuram-Punalur unreserved special service will begin on October 6 while the service starting from Punalur will be operational from October 7.

The scheduled departure time from Punalur is 6.30 am and the scheduled arrival at Thiruvananthapuram is 9.30 am. The train will begin its return trip from the capital at 5.50 pm and reach Punalur at 8.15 pm.

The railways have informed that the ticket rate will be equivalent to Express rates. Reservation will not be available, but season-ticket holders can use the service. Others can purchase tickets from the station counters.

The other unreserved express services that will become operational next month are, Kottayam-Kollam, Kollam-Thiruvananthapuram and Thiruvananthapuram-Nagercoil. All these services will begin on October 8.

Kottayam-Kollam Unreserved Express will start from Kottayam at 5.30 am and reach the destination at 7.50 am. The Kollam-Thiruvananthapuram service will start at 3.30 pm and is scheduled to arrive in the capital at 5.45 pm.

The Thiruvananthapuram-Nagercoil service will start from the state capital at 6 am and reach its destination at 7.55 am.

The railway authorities have planned to resume several other services soon. They are, Ernakulam-Guruvayur, Ernakulam-Alappuzha and Mangalore-Chennai Egmore.

The major services yet to become operational are Palakkad-Ernakulam, Palakkad-Tiruchendur, Kanyakumari-Pune (Jayanti), and the passernger services along Shornnur-Nilambur.
