According to Railway authorities, the arrival time of Vanchinad in Thiruvananthapuram will be made earlier than 10 am after the completion of the track-doubling work on the Kottayam route.
Meanwhile, the Mysuru – Kochuveli Daily Express will reach Kochuveli at 9.15 am and Banaswadi – Kochuveli Hamsafar Express at its destination at 9.25 am.
The arrival time of Kannur – Ernakulam Intercity Express at Ernakulam Junction will be 8.50 pm. Similarly, Thiruvananthapuram – Kozhikode Janshatabdi Express will reach Ernakulam Junction at 9.12 am and Kozhikode at 12.55 pm.
The Nilambur – Kottayam Express has been scheduled to reach Ernakulam Town at 7.55 pm and Kottayam at 10.10 pm.
Palaruvi Express from Tirunelveli to Palakkad will arrive at Ernakulam Town at 9.15 am.
These train timings were decided by the railway following a meeting of the top officials of the Kerala Government and Southern Railway.
However, the railway has informed the state that neither could the speed of various trains be increased nor these timings be changed unless the work on the Nemom terminal was completed.
Even though a project estimate for the terminal amounting to Rs 116 crore was submitted before the Railway Board, the board is yet to give its clearance.
Work on three additional platforms at Kochuveli is also stalled in view of funds shortage.
