Kottayam: State authorities have launched efforts to prepare an action plan to further boost tourism in Munnar, Kerala’s top hill travel destination. A meeting to discuss the measures to be implemented as part of the plan was attended by top tourism officials and stakeholders.
According to officials, among the major aims of the action plan being finalised by the Tourism Department is accelerating the pace of the ongoing development projects in Munnar. In addition, the plan would address issues such as the traffic congestion in the area.
“A proposal has been submitted to the government to build a flyover in the town. Parking areas will also be identified with the help of the local bodies and residents,” said PA Mohammed Riyas on a Facebook post.
Another measure mooted is the opening of an amenity centre. Meanwhile, regarding the mounting garbage problems, the Tourism Department is already implementing various programmes along with the Local Self-Government Department.
