General coaches to be restored in mail, express trains from today

Kochi: The Railways began the restoration of the general coaches in mail and express trains from Thursday.

The restoration of the unreserved general second-class coaches in trains to Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Telangana will be completed by May 1. The general coaches in the long-distance trains to other states will be restored on June 30.

Restoration of general coaches - Date & trains

* March 10 - Ernakulam Banaswadi Express, Kochuveli-Hubballi Express, and Kanyakumari-Bengaluru Island Express.

* March 16 - Thiruvananthapuram-Chennai Weekly Express, Kochuveli-Nilambur Rajya Rani Express, Mangaluru-Thiruvananthapuram Maveli Express, Thiruvananthapuram-Mangaluru Malabar Express, Madurai-Punalur Express, Tirunelveli-Palakkad Palaruvi Express, and Puducherry-Mangaluru Express.

* March 20 - Kochuveli-Mysuru, Kannur-Bengaluru, and Kannur- Yeshwantpur Express

* April 1 - Ernakulam-Karaikal Express, Thiruvananthapuram-Mangaluru Express, and Chennai-Alleppey Express

* April 16 - Thiruvananthapuram-Chennai Mail, Chennai-Mangaluru Mail, Thiruvananthapuram-Chennai Super Express

* April 20 - Thiruvananthapuram-Secunderabad Sabari Express

* May 1 - Thiruvananthapuram-Madurai Amritha Express, Chennai-Kollam Anantapuri Express, Chennai-Kollam Express, Chennai-Mangaluru West Coast Express, Ernakulam-Bengaluru Intercity Express

* June 30 - Long-distance trains to states other than Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Karnataka
