The Thiruvananthapuram railway division will resume issuing sleeper tickets for daytime travel in mail and express trains from Thursday, September 1. These tickets could be purchased from the unreserved ticket counters at the railway stations under the Thiruvananthapuram division and used for travel between 6 am and 9 pm.

Passengers would be allotted seats in the trains depending on vacancies. However, they can travel even if there are no vacant seats without causing inconvenience to reserved and other travellers.

Even though the facility for daytime travel with unreserved sleeper tickets had been available for many years, it was discontinued following the COVID-19 crisis. Now, after around two years, the railway authorities have announced the resumption of the facility considering the heavy rush during the upcoming Onam holidays. Meanwhile, railway officials said that the facility would continue after Onam also.
