Southern Railway announces six Onam special trains; first service today

The Southern Railway has announced special train services anticipating a huge rush during the upcoming Onam holidays in Kerala. There would be six special services connecting Chennai and Bengaluru with various stations in Kerala and nearby locations such as Mangaluru and Nagercoil. The first special train is scheduled to leave Ernakulam Junction for Chennai at 10 pm on September 1. 

Ernakulam-Chennai- Ernakulam
Train number 06046 will start for Chennai from Ernakulam Junction at 10 pm on September 1 and is scheduled to reach Chennai by 12 pm on September 2. The return trip (no: 06045) will start from Chennai at 3.10 pm on September 2 and arrive at Ernakulam by 3 am on September 3.

Another special (no: 06041) from Tambaram, in Chennai, is scheduled to depart at 1.30 pm on September 2 and arrive in Mangaluru by 6.45 am on September 3. The return service (no: 06042) from Mangaluru is at 10 am on September 3 and is scheduled to arrive at Tambaram by 4 am on September 4.

Train no: 06043 Tambaram-Kochuveli special will start from Tambaram at 2.15 pm on September 4 to reach Kochuveli at 12 pm on September 5. The return service (no: 06044) is scheduled to depart from Kochuveli at 2.30 pm on September 5 and arrive in Tambaram by 5.25 am the next day.

Nagercoil-Chennai via Kottayam
Yet another service announced is no: 06048 Nagercoil Junction-Chennai Egmore Special via Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Ernakulam Town and Salem. The train will leave Nagercoil at 5.50 am on September 11 and arrive at Chennai Egmore by 12.30 pm the next day.

The Kochuveli-SMVT Bengaluru service (no: 06037) will depart from Kochuveli at 5 pm on September 11 and arrive in Bengaluru by 10.10 on September 12. The return service (no: 06038) is scheduled from Bengaluru at 3 pm on September 12 and is expected to reach Kochuveli at 6.35 am the next day.

Chennai Egmore-Nagercoil
Train no: 06047 Chennai Egmore-Nagercoil Junction Special has been scheduled to leave Chennai Egmore at 4.15 pm on September 12 and reach Nagercoil by 5.55 am the next day. This service would be along the Tiruchirappalli, Madurai and Tirunelveli routes.
