After its jungle safari, the Kothamangalam depot of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has launched a budget tourism package to Chathurangapara in connection with Onam. The first tour was conducted on Saturday and it was for the first time that a KSRTC bus was travelling to Chathurangapara, a scenic location near Udumbanchola in Idukki district on the Tamil Nadu border.

Attractions

Perched at an altitude of 3,605.64 metres above sea level, Chathurangapara’s unique feature is the constant presence of cool breeze, which keeps away even the warmth of the afternoon Sun. There is also a windmill farm offering a special sight to visitors. Moreover, from the viewpoint at Chathurangapara, one can enjoy panoramic views of the farmlands on the plains in Tamil Nadu, Bodinayakanur, Thevaram, Kochu Thevaram Anakkaramedu, Pushpakkandam and Mankuthi Medu. The KSRTC bus travels as close to Chathurangapara as possible, making it convenient for even elderly people to visit the picturesque place in the hills.

Bus route

From Kothamangalam, the tour bus takes the A M Road to Munnar. From there, the route to Chathurangapara along Gap Road covers noted tourist spots such as Anayirankal Dam, several stunning view points and Pooppara. Travellers can spend two hours at Chathurangapara. During the return trip, the KSRTC bus covers Rajakumari, Rajakkad, Ponmudi Dam, Kallarkutty Dam, Panamkutty, Lower Periyar and Neriyamangalam before arriving back in Kothamangalam.
