Foreign teams reach Kozhikode for the Malabar River Festival

Kodencherry: The first foreign team has arrived in Kozhikode to participate in the ninth edition of the whitewater kayaking championship as part of the iconic Malabar River Festival, which will be organised by the tourism department on August 4, 5, and 6 at the Chalipuzha River and Iruvanjipuzha River.

Americans Eva Kristensen (20) and Annie Hodgen (22) did a kayaking trial run at the Iruvanjipuzha River.

The women practised in the stretch between Anakampoyil Kocheripara and Kumbidankayam in Pulloorampara in Iruvanjipuzha River, in their canoes. Indian athletes too have started practising in the river.

Eva and Annie would be participating in the event as special guests of the state tourism department.

Besides them, athletes from Israel, the United Kingdom, Kazakhstan, and South Africa would be arriving in the coming days. Indian athletes from Uttarakhand, Delhi, Karnataka, and Kerala too are practicing in the river.
