Simple hacks to successfully book tatkal railway tickets online

Mail This Article
Tatkal tickets are train tickets that can be booked on short notice for urgent or last-minute journeys. However, due to its high demand, it is really difficult to book tatkal tickets online using IRCTC’s Rail Connect App. But, Tatkal tickets can be successfully booked if you follow these simple hacks.
Speedy network
The most important thing is to know the exact time when the tatkal booking windows are opened. The tatkal booking window is opened one day before the journey at specific times. The booking for AC tickets begins at 10 am, while the tickets for the sleeper classes are available from 11 am onwards. Besides, tatkal tickets need to be booked quickly within a short span of time. So, high-speed network connectivity is essential for tatkal booking.
Plan in advance
Certain details need to be entered in the IRCTC’s app at least half an hour before the booking window opens to save time and to make things easier. Open the app and click on the ‘Account’ link; select the ‘My Master’ list. Now click on the Master List and add the passenger's name and other details. If you do this in advance, you could choose the names of the passengers you have already added when you click on the option to select the passenger names while booking tatkal. Tick the names of the passengers, and they will be added to the list. However, now, the Master List cannot be added while booking the non-AC tickets. This list could be used only while booking tatkal tickets in AC coaches.

Payment
Payment of ticket fare is another step in which you are likely to get delayed. It would take time to make payments via credit or debit cards. Things won’t go as planned if you do not receive the OTP for net banking quickly. So, the easiest payment method would be to use the IRCTC’s e-wallet (one-click payment). You can pay the fare using the e-wallet facility with a single click. Meanwhile, add the required amount to the wallet in advance.
Finding the train
Before booking the tickets, open the app at least twice and search for your destination so that the places that you are looking for would appear as soon as you open the app for actually booking the tickets. Choose the ‘tatkal’ option and click on the ‘search’ button to select the destination.
When should you login?
There is no need to log into the IRCTC’s app way in advance to book the Tatkal tickets. All the accounts logged in, even a minute before 11 am, would be automatically logged out, and you may have to log in again. So, it is better to prepare well and login in exactly at 11 am. After logging in, you are required to enter the captcha figures at least twice to book the tickets. Make sure to enter the captcha correctly, as there aren’t any shortcuts to avoid them.
