From this month, Air India airlines will relocate its Delhi - Tokyo service from Narita International Airport (NRT) to Haneda Airport (HND) in Tokyo. This move will make the Tokyo service more affordable and convenient for passengers. Air India has also expanded its codeshare agreement (an agreement to share flights, sell seats to another airline, etc) with Japan's largest airline, Nippon Airways (ANA). This will also improve the connectivity of passengers to six more cities in Japan. Air India will continue to operate four times a week to Haneda. It will also continue to have its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, which is known for passenger comfort, range and fuel efficiency. What are the other things passengers should know about the change?

Change in flight timings, benefits
Air India's flight to Tokyo will depart three hours in advance. Flight AI358 will depart from Delhi at 8.20 pm IST and arrive at Haneda at 7.55 am local time. The return flight, AI357, will depart from Haneda at 11.50 am and arrive at Delhi at 5.25 pm. As for why the change in airports will benefit passengers, here's what you should know:
1) Haneda is closer to Tokyo and better connects to various Japanese cities. While Haneda is only 18 km from Tokyo, Narita is 70 km away.
2) Train tickets are also much cheaper from Haneda. The Keikyu Line and Monorail from Haneda are more affordable.
3) Air India passengers from Haneda can easily connect to other major cities like Sapporo, Osaka and Fukuoka.
4) Business travellers prefer Haneda to Narita due to the convenience and proximity factors.

Please note...
1) From April 1 this year, Air India will replace its AI code on ANA flights from Haneda to Osaka, Hiroshima, Nagoya, Okinawa, Fukuoka and Sapporo.
2) ANA will also place its NH code on Air India's Delhi-Haneda flights and domestic routes to Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Pune.
3) On both airlines, premium passengers can avail themselves of priority boarding, seamless transfers, lounge access, and other alliance privileges.
4) Passengers can also book a single ticket for their entire journey. Baggage will be booked through to the final destination. This will reduce wait time at airports and final destinations.
