The cantilever bridge in Vagamon in Kerala's Idukki district has been drawing numerous visitors to the region since its opening in 2023, offering a spectacular 180-degree view at 3,500 feet. Now, Munnar is set to unveil another glass deck — smaller in scale, but with a stunning panoramic view that promises to captivate visitors. A glass tower, a first in the region, is being constructed at the Government Botanical Garden, owned by the District Tourism Promotion Council, on Devikulam Road. The much-anticipated tower, which also will have a glass floor like the cantilever bridge, is constructed on a whopping budget of Rs 2 crore. Its 34-metre walkway will lead to the watch tower built at a height of 300 metres. Up to 30 visitors are expected to be able to enter the watchtower at the same time, but the final number can only be confirmed after the construction is complete, said authorities. DTPC officials also said that the watch tower is expected to be opened for the visitors by the last week of May.
