After heavy rains and thunderstorms disrupted operations earlier today, Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) stated that its flight operations have returned to normal. Three flights were diverted and over 100 were delayed earlier due to inclement weather. Around 154 departing flights were also delayed, with a reported average delay time of approximately 61 minutes. Eight flights were also cancelled. Two flights were diverted to Jaipur and one to Ahmedabad. The airport had also advised passengers to check with their airlines for updates on their flights.
In its latest advisory, the airport said, "In light of the advisory from the India Meteorological Department, we wish to inform you that the airport remains fully operational. However, some flight operations may be affected by the adverse weather conditions. Our dedicated on-ground teams are collaborating with all stakeholders to ensure a smooth and efficient experience for our passengers. We kindly request passengers to stay updated on their flight status by contacting their respective airlines."
Various airlines, such as Indigo, have advised passengers to allow extra travel time to the airport, as waterlogging and heavy traffic in certain areas can cause delays. Air India said that some of its flights to and from Delhi are delayed or diverted, and they are working to minimise disruptions.
