The much-awaited 20-rake Vande Bharat, which is expected to be used instead of the present 16-coach Mangaluru-Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat, has reached Kerala. As per reports, the launch date of the train will be decided after checking at the Mangaluru depot. The train (20631/20632), which has 1016 seats at present, should have 1,336 seats after the upgrade. The Thiruvananthapuram - Kasaragod Vande Bharat (20634/20633) was upgraded from a 16-coach carrier to a 20-coach version in January this year.

Meanwhile, railway sources said that the clarity on whether this particular rake will be used as the Mangalore - Thiruvananthapuram Vande Bharat will only come once an induction date is announced. Earlier this year, there were reports that Kerala might get a third Vande Bharat with chair coaches. There were also announcements in November last year that Kerala might get 10 new Namo Bharat trains, with fares starting at Rs 30. However, no further updates on the same have been announced since then.
