Since Wednesday night, Kerala has been experiencing widespread rains across districts due to cyclonic activity in the Pacific Ocean. A yellow alert is in place in eight districts of the state today, and seven for tomorrow. The IMD has also warned of the possibility of flooding in low-lying regions, uprooting of trees and traffic disruptions due to the showers in the state.

Meanwhile, certain eco-tourism spots in the state have also closed down due to the rains. Thiruvananthapuram's Ponmudi and Mankayam tourist spots have been officially closed by the Forest Department. As per reports, the Kallar-Meenmutti Waterfalls in the district are also currently closed to tourists. 

In Idukki district, the administration has ordered a ban on all water-based activities, including boating, kayaking, rafting, and coracle rides, on days with a Red Alert. Especially in landslide-prone areas, trekking adventure jeep rides, and all similar activities shouldn't be conducted on rainy days.
